Introduction to SOTN Alucard Any% Saturn

The leaderboard for Any% Saturn runs is located at speedrun.com under the Category Extensions page.

Standard Route

  • Start a new run as Maria
  • Reach a Save Room and save the game
  • Execute a Save Transfer Glitch and start a new run as Alucard
  • Activate needed Relics for Alucard
  • Glitch into Inverted Castle (TODO: Describe how this is done)
  • (Optionally) Get lucky and get a Masamune drop
  • Kill Shaft and Dracula

Save Transfer Glitch

  1. Save as Maria
  2. Reset the game
  3. Load the Maria save file, then very quickly reset the game (START + ATTACK + JUMP + SHIELD) while it is fading to black
  4. Start a new file as Alucard

Saturn Richter Skip

  1. Stand just under the ledge of the doorway in Castle Keep facing to the right (The flat side of Alucard's cape will have 3-5 pixels of space between it and the stone texture)
  2. Hold DASH, followed very shortly after by holding RIGHT (wait for the next room to load, at which point Alucard will spawn in an unusual spot and another room will shortly after)

Blind Teleporter

Credit to paulo1179 for discovering this setup

Far to the left of where you spawn in, there is an invisible ledge that will block your movement. Line up against that ledge, then execute a full crouch jump to the left, followed by a full crouch jump to the right. After that, perform four full Dashes. You should now be at the position of the teleporter and can press UP to teleport to the Inverted Castle.

Masamune Drop

TODO: Describe the importance of getting the Masamune

Instead of relying on getting lucky to get the Masamune, there exists a way on the Saturn version of the game to manipulate the RNG into giving you a Masamune drop, instead.

Saturn Relic Skip

TODO: Describe how to perform the skip

Relic Skip can save 13-15 seconds (compared to just going through the cutscene) if done optimally
