Soma Any% is the shortest non-NG+ Soma category, with no restrictions on which glitches can be used to reach and defeat Chaos.

Major glitches used

  • 0HP glitch - to skip the Creaking Skull fight and setup early access to Floating Gardens
  • OoB warp - to warp to several different rooms around the castle
  • Cow zip - to enter the wall and OoB warp to Arena
  • Bat zip - to setup OoB warps for the Claimh and for reaching Chaos early

Standard route

Start

After performing Baselard manip, the first portion of the route is focused on setting up for a 0HP glitch on the first Axe Armor. The 0HP glitch requires leveling up and dying on the same frame, so Soma needs to farm enough XP from enemies to be near a level up while also taking damage from them to lower his HP to near 0. The following table lists the XP and damage Soma receives at level 1 from each enemy:

LVL 1 Enemy XP and Damage
Enemy XP DMG (clothes) DMG (no clothes)
Zombie 1
Bat 1 1 6
Merman 2 7 12
Tiny Devil 8 19 24
Skeleton 3 13 18
Killer Fish 10 18
Axe Armor 10 24

Tasty Meat manip

A healing item is needed to exit 0HP glitch state later, and Tasty Meat is the only one available at this point in the game. There is one sitting at the end of the long waterway screen, but it's much faster to manip one from the first Killer Fish instead.

Standard version

Enter Reservoir and slash the Tiny Devil twice to kill it for 8 XP. Equip Baselard, unequip Casual Clothes, then suspend and reload. Holding left, perform a full jump at the top of the stairs over the Tiny Devil to fall into the corner below. Don't jump too late or the manip will break, which you can notice if the Skeleton's attacks are hitting you too slowly. Buffer right during the hard landing, then stop holding right after you run into the Skeleton.

At this point, the manip branches into two variants depending on whether the Skeleton's bone throw knocks Soma back a short distance or a longer distance.

Simple version

This version of Tasty Meat manip is roughly 2 seconds slower, but does not branch into any variants like the standard version. It also allows for collecting 6 extra XP by killing the Skeleton twice before suspending.
